I’m Noel, psychotherapist and social worker with over 14 years of experience working across mental health and psychiatric settings in Ireland and the US.
My own path into this work has been varied. After completing my first degree, I spent several years working in the private sector before returning to the helping professions. I went on to complete a Master’s in Social Work and later trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties and life circumstances, across different clinical and therapeutic settings.
I’ve also spent time in leadership and management roles within mental health services. While these experiences have given me a broader understanding of mental health care and the systems around it, my focus has increasingly returned to what I find most meaningful — being with people, listening to their stories, and doing the work of therapy together.
I believe that therapy is, above all, a relationship. For me, it is about creating a space where you can feel comfortable being honest and where you don't have to feel judged, rushed, or expected to have everything figured out.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a particular difficulty that has become hard to manage; sometimes life has changed in ways that leave us feeling lost or uncertain. At other times, there may simply be a sense that something isn't quite right, or a desire to understand yourself more deeply and make meaningful changes.
My approach is integrative and person-centred, which means I draw from different therapeutic perspectives depending on the person sitting in front of me. I don't believe therapy should be about fitting yourself into a particular model. Instead, I try to understand you as an individual — your experiences, relationships, circumstances, strengths, and the things that may be getting in the way of living the life you want.
I see my role as walking alongside you rather than telling you what you should do. Together, we can explore what is happening, make sense of difficult experiences, and develop a greater understanding of yourself and the patterns that may be affecting your life.
Most importantly, I aim to offer a space that is warm, compassionate, thoughtful, and grounded — a place where you can be yourself and begin to explore what might be possible from here.
